129、error, fault, mistake
一、error 名词。意思是“错误、错处”。指由于疏忽而导致的行动上的错误或偏差。有时可和mistake换用。在日常生活中用mistake多一些，但在表示不合标准特别是不合道德标准时用error多一些。例如：
There are some spelling errors in his article. 他的文章中有一些拼写错误。
He went over it and found only two or three errors.他过了一遍，发现只有二、三处错误。
Their error was serious. 他们的错误是严重的。
二、fault 名词。意思是“错误、缺陷、缺点、毛病”。多指机械装置、器件、仪表、电路等出了毛病而不能正常工作。例如：
There is a fault in the electrical connections. 电路存在毛病。
Every man has his faults. 人无完人。
This exercise has many faults of grammar. 练习中存在许多语法错误。
三、mistake 作名词表示“错误、误会、误解”；作动词表示“误会、弄错”。作名词时常可和error换用。多指由于缺乏正确的判断、计算或理解而造成错误或误会。例如：
We all make mistakes. 我们都会犯错。
You made three mistakes in grammar to-night.今晚你在语法上犯了三个错误。
He's mistaken the address and gone to the wrong house.他搞错了地址，去错了房子。（动词）
