what, how, where, which, when, that, whether……
不过，这些引导词可不是随随便便的，它们可是有些讲究的。( ˘･з･)
今天，我们就来了解下whether和that引导主语从句时的用法区别。
我们都知道，whether和that两者都可引导主语从句。比如：
That he is still alive is a wonder.
他还活着，这是个奇迹。
Whether he is still alive is a question.
他是否还活着，这是个问题。
我们观察可以发现，两者的区别主要应从句子的整体意思来考虑：
that引导主语从句时，本身没有词义，但是由that引导的整个主语从句的意思通常是确定的；
而whether本身有词义，表示“是否”，由它引导的主语从句的意思通常是不确定的。
为了方便大家理解这个规律，下面小编举些例子：
1.That we’ll put off the meeting is decided.
我们要延迟召开会议，这已决定了。
Whether we’ll put off the meeting is not decided.
我们是否要延迟召开会议，这还没有决定。
2. That he has left there is clear.
他已离开了那里，这点很清楚。
Whether he has left there is not clear.
他是否已离开那里，这还不清楚。

当引导宾语从句时，if与whether都可以，两者可换用。
比如：
Nobody knew whether he could pass the exam. （√）
Nobody knew if he could pass the exam. （√）
没人知道他是否会通过考试。
但是，whether可置于句首引导主语从句，而if不能。
比如：
Whether we will go to the park is up to your sister. （√）
If we will go to the park is up to your sister. （✖️）
